The text for Sunday’s sermon is Luke 18:9-14. Read and consider it as you prepare.
This Sunday, Grace anticipates welcoming Dr. Steve Nichols, Senior Scholar and LBC Ambassador at Lancaster Bible College, to the pulpit. Dr. Nichols returned to LBC this year after serving for 12 years as president of Reformation Bible College and senior academic officer at Ligonier Ministries. He has frequently contributed to Ligonier’s podcasts and publications. His scholarship covers Reformation history, church history, and the life of R.C. Sproul. Dr. Nichols is the author of more than 20 books, including Beyond the 95 Theses, A Time for Confidence, and R.C. Sproul: A Life, and co-editor of Crossway’s Theologians on the Christian Life series. He also hosted the podcast 5 Minutes in Church History.
During Sunday school this week, the adult and Pyro Sunday school classes will meet in the auditorium for a special session with Dr. Nichols. He will speak briefly about the history of the hymn, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.” After that, he will answer questions from the audience. Introducing Leslie Schmucker as Children’s Ministry Coordinator Candidate
Grace's elders are pleased to present Leslie Schmucker as a candidate for Children's Ministry Coordinator at Grace.
Leslie brings nearly 40 years of experience in education, primarily as a special education teacher. Most recently, she served as Director of the Student Support Program at Dayspring Christian Academy, where she developed and led a program serving students with a wide range of learning needs. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Special Education.
Leslie also has extensive ministry experience, including directing children's Sunday School programs, Vacation Bible School, and other children's activities. At Grace, she has been actively involved in children's ministry and women's Bible studies. She is also an accomplished writer and the author of Broken Children, Sovereign God.
Leslie has a passion for teaching children the Scriptures and helping them develop a strong foundation in biblical truth. She believes children's ministry should emphasize sound biblical teaching, age-appropriate instruction, and helping children understand and communicate the gospel.
Leslie is married to Steve (our Deacon of Facilities). They have three children and eight grandchildren.
The congregation will vote on Leslie's candidacy at the congregational meeting on Sunday, November 15th.

We're coming down the homestretch of 2026 we’re attempting to wrap up some outdoor projects.
- Have you noticed some of the large soil piles from digging out for the pole garage and swings? After they are moved to some of the slopes on our property to help grade them, we will need help to finish grading the slopes by hand and plant seeds to help make them more mower-friendly next year. Joel Myer is looking for 1-2 volunteers to assist him. The work would likely occur from 3:30 - dark on one or more days next week (Mon 10/26 - Fri 10/30).
- The second project is to plant some trees and shrubs along our northern property border. Joel is in need of another 1-2 volunteers to help accomplish this during the first or second week of November. He says, "I appreciate any help, but particularly would welcome some new helpers to lighten the load on those who routinely assist me."

Our next Connection Sunday will be November 1! Adults will gather in the lobby for food and fellowship during the Sunday school hour.
No signup is needed to attend, but we do need some volunteers to bring food, serve, and clean up to make Connection Sunday happen. You can sign up to help right here. If you have questions, please see Melinda Clark.

Elder Nominations
It is time for our congregation to prayerfully consider and nominate qualified men to serve as elders at Grace. As you consider whom to nominate, please review the biblical qualifications for elders found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Our church constitution also requires that nominees have been members of Grace for more than two years. A list of men who meet this qualification is on the back of the nomination form.
Nomination forms are available at the Welcome Center in the foyer and must be submitted by November 8 by placing them in the Grace Box outside of the Administrator's office.

Our church will once again send a group of students and young adults to the Cross Conference. We are thrilled to be returning. The conference has been a great encouragement to our young people and a help in their Christian walk. This year, our group is bigger than ever and the venue has changed, which has increased our attendance cost. Would you consider giving to offset some of these costs?

Join us for our November Craft & Connect, Saturday, November 14 from 6-8 p.m. We will bring the supplies to make pinecone Christmas gnomes, or you are welcome to bring a craft you've been working on but just haven't found the time!
This social event is a great time to invite a friend or neighbor. Our focus will be on getting to know one another better while having some fun at the same time.

Grace’s annual Pie and Praise service is on Wednesday, November 25th. Join us at Grace at 6:30 p.m. for an evening of worship, followed by dessert! A registration page for dessert will be published soon.

We have Sunday school for all ages.
Our children are enjoying age-graded classes in their brand new classrooms.
For adults, we are offering two classes this fall:
- Young Couples Class – Don Brubaker will lead a class designed for young couples. This will be a small-group-style class with many opportunities for interaction and discussion. The Young Couples Class will meet downstairs in Room 8.
- Auditorium Class – Young adults will join the rest of the adults in the auditorium. During October and November, Joel DeVinney will teach a class on prayer.
The Young Adult class taught by Joel DeVinney will resume in December. Jefferey Becker will also begin a series from the book of Colossians in the auditorium.
