Purpose

To provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care in a clean environment to children ages 0-2 years while at our church.

Qualifications

Grace Baptist Church has the following requirements of all volunteers working with children in order to create a safe environment and present a worthy example:

• Must have been regularly involved for at least 6 months and a member of Grace.

• Complete a Volunteer Screening with the Children’s Ministry Coordinator to better understand your experience working with children and ministry preferences.

• Successfully pass all state required background checks and Mandated Reporter Training.

• Present yourself as a committed Christian who regularly participates in Grace’s weekly worship services.

• Be a growing Christian growing in Christ through consistent quiet time, prayer, and mutual accountability.

Responsibilities

• Be engaged with scheduling by keeping block out dates current on Planning Center.

• Arrive at least 10 minutes prior to service time to prepare materials and greet children at the door.

• Create a welcoming environment finding ways to connect with children and demonstrating Jesus’ love through your interactions.

• Receive children and diaper bags from parents while being attentive for any symptoms of illness.

• Provide proper, age-appropriate care which includes: changing diapers, rocking or singing to babies, play with or read to children, feed babies when needed as requested by parents.

• Stay until the children are secured with a responsible adult.

• In the event of an emergency, notify the parent via their provided communication preference.

• Clean up the nursery which includes: spraying toys with disinfectant before putting away, place used sheets in laundry bag, restock supplies, and turn off lights.

• Be aware of allergies and food restrictions to keep children safe.
